Coverage: State-of-the-art access based on transmission technology and switching composed of several components: •International Gateway located at Ramsis central office as Prime Node (PN) •ATM-based backbone with nodes distributed throughout Egypt with a relatively high concentration in Cairo and Alexandria. These nodes are the Secondary Nodes (SN) and Access Nodes (AN) of the network • Access systems to connect the users to the backbone. These systems are located in every PN, SN, and AN, as well as in Remote Nodes (RN) •Fiber and other transmission capacity. NOL is planning to use as much as possible of the existing Telecom Egypt capacity. However, the long term need of fiber capacity in the greater Cairo area will be met through NOL deployment of fiber.
